The
Austin-Healey 100
was the first in the line of the ‘big’ Healey`s. The 100 in its name signifying
its capability to reach 100mph. With its mechanicals based on the Austin A90, the 100 had an
uprated 90bhp 2.7-litre inline four–cylinder engine and streamlined body giving it spirited
performance, and it became an instant hit both in the UK and the US.
This Healey is one of the best examples of a restored car of that era. It is a early frame off restoration and has done less than 3000 miles since this work was done. It has mainly been stored in a controlled garage while occasionally venturing out to a few shows.
A list of all parts used and pictorial of work completed is available. The paintwork is immaculate and the underside is painted along with the chassis and all equipment. In the last year the gearbox was removed and overhauled with new 1st gear cluster, all bearings and lay shaft counter gear shaft replaced (BH parts supplied). The water pump and belt have also been replaced, along with the rear axle shaft seals.
Other enhancements include the replacement of the original steering wheel with a Hetherington wheel of the era along with a new set of chrome wire wheels from the UK.
The car tracks straight and the brakes work correctly with two leading shoes on the front for stopping power.
All instruments are in working order and the speedo was overhauled by Bobs Restoration Company
The cylinder head was overhauled by “The Healey Works” and is a Westlake head. There is a pusher fan that is
controlled by auto temp or manual override. The overdrive operates on 3rd and 4th gears. The stainless steel exhaust system and muffler are heat wrapped .
The hood has been replaced with an Aluminum 100m louvered hood and leather belt strap. This came from the original stampings in the UK. All chrome is in new condition. The interior and carpets are also excellent. The Top and Toneau are also new along with the side curtains.
All in all this is a near perfect car as seen from the pictures.
