Beautiful Acacia Melanoxylon. This tree has a beautiful fine blister figure on the flat sawn pieces that I use in my artwork. The vertical grain shows this as a fine ripple figure with lots of chatoyance. I have been clearing out space in my shop to work. You know you are a wood addict when you don't just buy the whole log, when you find something nice like this, but the whole tree ! as I did with this wood 19 years ago. I still have enough flat sawn knotty mixed sapwood boards to last me the rest of my life, but what to do with all that pesky clear quartersawn wood, and odd small chunks? Dimensions above are for each piece in inches, shown sprayed with denatured alcohol to show figure
