Description
I am selling my stash of Brazilian rosewood, this is genuine Dalbergia Nigra. These pieces are from "the last great load" of rosewood to come out of Brazil, according to John Curtis of LMI who traveled to Brazil to supervise sawing of the wood for the company, Rare Hardwoods, of south San Francisco in the late 1980s. Martin Guitar ended up with most of it, but I had about 500 lbs of wood that Rare Hardwoods sold me around 1987-1988 just prior to their closing. I worked on the Dalbergia Nigra Appendix 1 endangered species listing and other CITES proposals with Bruce MacBryde of the Fish and Wildlife Service. I wrote several articles and was the CITES liaison for the Good Wood Alliance for a few years. I have not used much of this wood in my art work as originality intended, what with the problem the export restrictions pose for galleries that sell my work to collectors from out of the US. I can only ship this wood within the U.S.Most of this wood has sold, just a few pieces left, I know the price is high but so is the quality and legal status.
Dimensions listed above are for each piece in inches.
