Chico Sapote,Manilkara zapota, is the wood from the tree that produces chicle, the base for chewing gum. Dense and hard with almost no noticeable grain, pink when freshly cut, darkening to a purple brown with exposure to air and light. This wood came from the sustainable forestry project Plan Piloto Forestal in the Yucatan, air dried 20 years,no defects each piece in inches: 5"x 2.3"x 7/16" shown sprayed with denatured alcohol to show figure
