Guaiacum sanctum, the heaviest wood in the world, extremely rare and expensive. This material came from a large squared log that I had been eyeing at a lumber importers yard for years. I just wanted the outer sapwood for my inlays, a few years ago I went ahead and bought it because I knew I could sell the heartwood for knife scales. the color is excellent green but will need to be exposed to air and light in the finished form get the full effect. this wood is listed on CITES app ll , the dealer helped me out back in the 1990's when I was working with the fish and wildlife service to strengthen protection for this wood, so I assume it has been legally imported.
