Original WWII Bronze Star Grouping NAMED US Army Officer Leyte Philippines

Description

Up for purchase is a nice WWII medal grouping named to a U.S. Army Captain (later Major). According to a period newspaper article I found online, the Major was awarded a Bronze Star for support of combat operations on Leyte in the Philippines. The ID of his included with this grouping indicates he was a Captain in 1944, so I would assume he was promoted to Major sometime after his actions on Leyte. The Bronze Star is a slot brooch, and unfortunately is not engraved. According to the newspaper clipping, the Major was presented the Bronze Star while in the Philippines. You will note there are two "coffin" style Bronze Star boxes with this grouping. The person I obtained this group from said that a family member kept one of the Bronze Stars. I do not see anything to indicate that he earned two Bronze Stars, so I would assume this was a duplicate medal. Either way, the extra case is included as it came with everything else. Also with this grouping is the WWII Victory Medal (slot brooch), Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (crimp brooch), National Defense Medal (crimp brooch), along with his ribbon bars. The two wartime bars are the wide variety with the proper plastic coating. Also included is a nice example of a cloth ribbon rack, which would be from the post-war period, as evidenced by the Army of Occupation and National Defense ribbons. While not engraved, this is still a very nice IDed grouping to a US Army officer who saw action in the Philippines, and would make an excellent addition (as well as a good research opportunity) for the next caretaker. The buyer will receive a printout of the newspaper clipping that I found online.

Orders will be shipped as quickly as possible, anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 days after payment. Sometimes things happen and the handling time might be longer. I am at a student at a major university, so if I have a large exam or project approaching, this would be an event that would delay shipments temporarily.
