    Rare Antique NCR National Cash Register Receipt File Box
    Here is a neat vintage item from National Cash Register (NCR)! I’m guessing its from the early 20th century. The device has 2 jointed doors. One opens up and the other opens down. On the inside there is a set of files exposed by opening the top door, then there is an equal set of files behind the lower door. The bottom set is set behind glass and in the old days you would need a key to access the glass door to get to the files. The lock is open and there is no longer a key. When you lift a selected file tray at the top, the duplicate bottom tray moves as well and a bell rings. The top and bottom are in sync.
    This is very heavy, apx 125 lbs or so. This machine is 26 3/4" tall, 16 " wide, and 10 1/2" deep.
    I was told that this is from a time when a man could go into a store and pick up goods with no money until payday. A receipt would be put in the file until the time that your account was paid. I guess its an original CREDIT CARD! It looks like it may have mounted to a counter or maybe even some type of register because the bottom hinges hang below the bottom of the device. If your bidding, I guess you know how it worked.
    I did not try to clean it.  Sold just as found.
    PICK UP ONLY in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, 13 miles east of Huntsville.  This weighs too much to ship. I estimate 125lbs. Delivery may be possible for an added fee but ask before bidding.
